Possible High Ropes Course Events
Trust Fall: Participants
climb to the top of a low platform or ladder and then fall backwards
into the upraised arms of their team members.
The Climbing Tower:
Participants climb in groups of three, tethered together, up a
simulated rock climb. One lesson is interdependence, even when
the pressure is high.
The Hi-Y: Participants
climb in pairs to two separate, 20 foot cables and traverse to
a common point with the aid of ropes for balance. The pair then
works together to move across a third cable in a journey that
requires collaboration for success.
The Pole:
Participants individually climb a 30 foot pole, balance on top,
and turn to leap for a rope hanging seven feet away. Not only
are participants challenged to go beyond their own comfort zones,
but everyone experiences the exhilaration of watching others pursue
and achieve goals that appear unattainable.
The Monster: Participants climb in groups of three or four people each through
a series of challenges including a 50 foot ladder, a cable traverse,
a multi-participant plank walk and a rappelling station. The climbers
remain at high elevations over time and learn valuable team lessons
about using individual strengths, complementing resources, commitment
to interdependence, planning, communication and dealing with other "monsters", i.e., our fears and other self-imposed obstacles,
as team efficacy builds.
The Zip Line: Participants
climb to the top of a 50 foot platform and then while secured
to a pulley system that glides on overhead cables, they leap from
the platform and zip down the cables to the field below. Debriefing revolves around support from others and taking the
big steps in life that make a difference.
Each event throughout an adventure learning
day is followed by group discussion to make connections to individual,
team and organizational lessons. A number of customized adventure
learning experiences are available based on client request.
