Possible Low Ropes Course Events
The Bridge:
The team works together to get everyone across a ravine by building
a bridge made of materials the team has collected through the
day or that have been staged at the crossing site.
Converging Path Acid
River: Teams are divided into two sub-teams, each challenged
to get all of its members from one side of an imaginary "acid
river" to the other with limited resources and limited time. The two sub-teams start on opposite sides of the river. This problem-solving
exercise creates a model of how the team approaches tasks at work,
and presents an opportunity to examine styles of leadership and
communication, vision, planning, strategy, and use of resources.
Blind Star:
The team's mission is to create a perfectly formed five pointed
star using the rope provided while blindfolded and according to
some strict customer specifications.
Cat's Cradle:
Connected by a rope, the team is asked to create the first four
moves of the string game of Cat's Cradle. The lessons include
collaboration, team planning, shared leadership and aligned effort.
The Electric Maze: This is a dynamic event that demonstrates how people need to mutually
support one another as they work together toward a common goal.
The Electric Maze is a programmed 6' x 10' carpet which is marked
off into twelve-inch squares. The team challenge is to move all
members across the carpet, one at a time, stepping only on those
squares that do not trigger a "beep".
The Low V: This event pairs participants who explore the fundamentals of
strategic partnering and Playing to Win vs. Playing Not to Lose.
Partners help to balance each other as they negotiate a set of
tight-rope cables, three to four feet off the ground, that start
together and then diverge, forming a "V". The partners eventually
fall into the center of the "V" where they are caught and lowered
to the ground by the rest of the team.
